Five Fantastically Fun Free Twitter Tools

Tools is used loosely here but for lack of a better choice tools it is. These may or may not be new to you and may or may not even be useful but I bet you have fun with at least ONE! Of course the title to this post was inspired by the first tool …

http://tweetcloud.com – Tweetcloud can give you some good insight to someone, or yourself. My tweet cloud isn’t always what I would like to see from myself and it definitely tells me what I was going through at the time. This is an awesome tool for helping keep your attitude in check and keep your ideas focused.

http://twitterfall.com – Twitterfall is, to me, less useful but interesting. I use a service that allows me to easily follow up to 10 key words or phrases in separate grids. More on that in a different post.? Go ahead and give this one a try though – it’s fun.

http://dossy.org/twitter/karma – Twitter Karma from Dossy is one of the best and simplest friend managers I have used and I’ve used quite a few. Because it relies on the Twitter API it is limited on the number of followers a user can have to make effective use of the application. At nearly 5000 followers I’m pushing the limits.

http://www.hashtags.org – Hashtags is a useful tool especially if you are really monitoring a particular keyword or phrase use. The site delivers a graphical representation of the use in the form of a visual chart of the most commonly used hashtags. If you’re reading @superphly, @brianthecoder, & @benburkert it would be fantastic to have one or all of you on Social Media Edge to talk about your site and other works.

http://whendidyoujointwitter.appspot.com – When did you join Twitter? But I bet you guessed that from the URL. This one is kind of single purpose except I suppose you could waste invest a lot of time checking out your friends join date.

Free VOIP Phone Calls – No Log In Needed

Can you say ripe for abuse? But hey, I’m just the messenger :)

http://icall.com/free-phone-calls/ – no joke, just go to the web page and start making phone calls. Want to start a pool on how long this lasts? No login needed.

While we’re at it this one appears to work only for international calls http://evaphone.com/ no login needed. “Hello? May I speak with the dictator please?”

Twitter Tuesday Radio is now Social Media Edge

Twitter Tuesday Radio gets a new name. What? Check the video lol ol. Or as someone said ROFLMBO … tomorrow’s guest joining Jason Crouch and me (Ken Cook) is Sarah Evans (http://twitter.com/prsarahevans). Ashton Kutcher vs CNN on Follower Challenge

Okay – I don’t care much for Ashton Kutcher’s star persona but I don’t know him personally so I can’t speak. What I do like is a good challenge and an underdog. Yes, Ashton Kutcher is http://twitter.com/aplusk – I don’t know what CNN is but I do know that Ashton has told CNN he, Ashton, will be the first user with 1,000,000 followers.

Again, I don’t care if he gets a million or not but I do want him to beat CNN. So please follow him … I don’t follow celebs but I just followed him. If you want to know some other celebs read an older Twitterbits post.

I guess Larry King takes it personally. L. O. L.

You Can’t Say That on Twitter! Can You?

Every guru, it seams, or at least most of the above average Twitter users we have interviewed on Twitter Tuesday Radio on JCKC have said there are certain things you should not tweet about. Both my co-host, Jason Crouch and I, disagree as do most uber tweeters – people who have tens of thousands of followers.

For any person using any media the first step should be to be comfortable with yourself and then to have a pre-determined plan of what you will tweet about but only if you are not simply a free-spirit having fun. If you are on Twitter *just to do business* you’re really not welcomed by the masses anyway so you’re going to interact.Ice Cream!

Guess what? I love it when people show pictures of ice cream! I also may like to read if someone just finished a favorite book, if they are watching Bones, going to eat dinner with a friend, or headed to a Rolling Stones concert. This is how we get to know people – this is how we socialize!

Oh, that’s right, some users forget too frequently this whole bit is called “social media” and they just want it to be their little barrell full of fish. (That’s a reference to an American saying “like shooting fish in a barrell” for a salesman in a room full of stupified buyers.

So tweet what you want, when you want, as often as you want, and to the attention of whomever you want. If people don’t like it the process to unfollow is more simple than the process to follow.

Now for the title of this post I have to tell on myself. The question on Twitter, of course, is “What are you doing?” Many people answer it literally and in few words, “Headed to work”, “Eating pie”, or some other simple answer. During REtechSouth I was sitting next to Reggie Nicolay when the question of to tweet or not to tweet something in particular was brought up by Jeff Turner. I couldn’t believe I leaned over and said this but I said, “Just once I would like to tweet something a little silly and a little disgusting. So I started on a journey to see if someone may have just tweeted that:

You may not want to know but evidently it’s pretty popular – the results are in click here.

Follow me on Twitter if you dare. I won’t tell you everything I’m doing – I promise.
